2025 Year End Campaign

Help us advance access to quality healthcare for all on Whidbey Island.

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

This holiday season, someone in our community will wake up in crisis, unsure of what’s wrong or where to turn. And when they walk through the doors of WhidbeyHealth, what happens next will depend, in part, on the support of people like you.

Let me tell you about Jim Norman.

At 4 a.m. one morning, Jim woke up shivering uncontrollably. He couldn’t walk steadily, and his wife Joann knew he needed care—and fast. Like many on the island, they debated on where to go. Jim had past frustrations with WhidbeyHealth and wanted to seek care off-island. Joann pushed for Coupeville, and thankfully, she won the debate.

What they found at WhidbeyHealth surprised them both.

Instead of a long wait, Jim was triaged immediately. The nurses were attentive. A provider sat with him and clearly explained what was happening. He had an infection in his blood and needed urgent treatment. He didn’t hear scary words like “sepsis,” but he felt seen, informed, and safe.

Over the next seven days, Jim experienced what he called a “completely different hospital” than he expected. Skilled, compassionate care, nurses who made him feel more like he was in a spa, rather than a hospital, and a team that treated him with warmth, professionalism, and dignity. When Jim was discharged, they even gave him a card signed by the nurses who cared for him.

Jim’s story isn’t just about recovery. It’s about rediscovery.

He left WhidbeyHealth with his health restored and his trust renewed. In fact, he’s now one of our strongest advocates, working with others in the community to help share the message that WhidbeyHealth has turned a corner and is becoming the hospital this island truly deserves.

Stories like Jim’s are why we’re asking for your help.

Our staff is committed. Our leadership is strong. But to keep building on this progress, we need continued investment in the equipment, technology, and tools that make excellent care possible right here on Whidbey.

When you support WhidbeyHealth Foundation, you’re helping to ensure that the next person who walks through our doors—whether it’s a neighbor, a loved one, or you—gets the care they need without having to leave the island.

Jim put it best:

“This whole experience awakened me to the connection I feel to WhidbeyHealth. The culture here is different. You can feel it. I want to make sure that continues.”

Your year-end gift, whatever the amount, will help make that possible. Please consider making a donation today to help us continue advancing access to quality healthcare for all on Whidbey Island.

With gratitude,

Rainy Simpson

Executive Director, WhidbeyHealth Foundation

P.S. Please consider making your gift before December 31 to support local healthcare and help us continue providing the compassionate, modern care our community deserves.
