Robert May
Meet Robert
Robert May came to Oak Harbor in 1976 as a Navy brat, went through public schools and graduated Oak Harbor High School in 1985.
While attending Skagit Valley College he became a volunteer Firefighter/EMT in 1988 and after a brief stint as a paid Firefighter at NAS Whidbey was hired as the first paid Firefighter/EMT in 1991 for the OH Fire Department.

After a few years of working at OHFD he was hired by Whidbey General Hospital and sent to Paramedic school at the Bellingham Fire Department where he graduated in 1993.
He has worked for WhidbeyHealth Medical Center in many capacities since, mostly responding as a 911 Paramedic but then took on a collateral duty of “Community Outreach Coordinator” and then “Chief Paramedic.”
He is passionate about relationships and has cultivated many broad-based, deep-seated professional and personal associations for the benefit of ensuring our Community is the safest it can possibly be. Rob continues ongoing learning receiving certificates like, "Leadership Strategies for Community Risk Reduction" and Community Paramedic/Mobile Integrated Healthcare studies.
He would very candidly admit that all injury and illness prevention activities that he has spearheaded over the last twenty years while working for WhidbeyHealth EMS have benefited from the Foundation's participation. Rob feels it's time to give back to the Community through the Foundation by greater participation with the Executive Director and the Board.
Rob is married to the amazing Kimberli May of ICOM 911 Dispatch, and has two thriving daughters, both in healthcare. He has no time for hobbies.
