Enhancing Surgical Care at WhidbeyHealth
This summer, WhidbeyHealth will undergo a critical infrastructure upgrade to its Operating Room, thanks to a $2.5 million HRSA grant. The grant will fund the installation of a new state-of-the-art air handling system—bringing the OR up to code, improving infection control, and ensuring cleaner, safer air directly above surgical sites. Construction begins mid-July, requiring a temporary 2–3 week closure of the Operating Room.

A Rare Opportunity to Upgrade Further
During this necessary renovation, the ceiling and air system will be removed and replaced—offering a one-time window to install modern surgical lighting and vital patient equipment without additional disruption or cost.
We have the opportunity to install Harmony A-Series Surgical Lights—specifically designed to work with the new airflow system. These advanced lights not only enhance visibility but also improve air quality by allowing unobstructed clean air flow and minimizing heat and surgical smoke.
Cost: $165,117

Stretcher Lifecycle Replacement
Additionally, four of our current OR stretchers have reached end-of-life. We are seeking to replace them with Sprint 200 stretchers, which offer ultra-lightweight, safe, and comfortable transport options for patients.
Cost: $11,556
Total: $46,224
Provider-Backed, Community-Driven
Our surgical team, including our general surgeons Bonnie Tulk, DO, FACS and John Hassapis, MD, fully support these upgrades and emphasize the significant impact they will have on patient care and surgical outcomes.

Our Goal:
to Raise $218,000
