Upgrading Cardiac Monitoring System
for Our Community

Get Involved Today

We request your support for a crucial investment that will significantly enhance patient care on Whidbey Island.

We seek to acquire a state-of-the-art Cardiac Monitoring System, which significantly impacts the work of multiple departments at WhidbeyHealth Medical Center including EMS, Emergency Department, ICU, Operating Room, Family Birthplace, and more. This crucial upgrade comes with a substantial cost of $1 million.

Why This Matters

Our current Cardiac Monitoring System has served us well, however, has reached the end of its manufacturer’s recommendation of useful life and will no longer be supported. In anticipation of the retirement of this equipment with the goal of maintaining the highest standards of care we strive for, the urgency to upgrade our equipment is a priority. The newest iteration in Cardiac Monitoring Systems is a critical investment that will have far-reaching benefits across several departments within our medical center.

How It Works

Every dollar you donate will be matched, doubling the impact of your contribution. This means your support will go twice as far in helping us reach our goal and ensuring the highest standards of care for our community.

Key Departments Where This System Will Make a Significant Impact:

1- Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

In the ICU, the new system will provide continuous and precise monitoring of critically ill patients, ensuring that any cardiac events are detected and addressed immediately, which is vital for patients in critical condition.

2- Emergency Department

The system will enable rapid and accurate detection of cardiac events, allowing our emergency medical team to respond swiftly and efficiently to life-threatening situations.

3- Operating Room

(Surgery Suites & Procedure Room)

Cardiac monitoring is essential during and after surgeries, particularly for patients with pre-existing heart conditions. The system will ensure that our surgical teams can closely monitor patients’ cardiac functions.

4- Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

The system will integrate with our EMS operations, allowing paramedics to transmit real-time cardiac data to the hospital while in route. This will enable our medical team to prepare for incoming patients more effectively and provide immediate, informed care upon arrival.

5- Central Monitoring Room (COMMS Center / HUC)

The central monitoring room will benefit from improved equipment that allows for real-time tracking of patients' cardiac health throughout the hospital. This centralized system ensures that critical data is always available.

6- Labor & Delivery

(Family Birthplace / MedSurg Obs. / QA Room)

For expectant mothers with pre-existing heart conditions or those who develop cardiac issues during pregnancy, continuous cardiac monitoring is crucial. The new system will help our staff to monitor and manage these conditions effectively, ensuring the safety of both mothers and babies.

7- Telemetry (MedSurg2 - Tele)

Telemetry units will be updated with new telemetry boxes, providing accurate and continuous monitoring of cardiac patients. This will help in early detection and management of cardiac events. This enables early detection of potential cardiac issues, timely interventions, and increased peace of mind for both patients and their families.

8- Perioperative Services

(Pre-Op, PACU & Ambulatory Care)

In perioperative services, including pre-operative, post-anesthesia care units (PACU), and ambulatory care, the new system will ensure continuous cardiac monitoring, enhancing patient safety before, during, and after procedures.

9- Radiology (Diagnostic Imaging)

The integration with radiology will allow for continuous monitoring of cardiac patients during diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring their safety and quick intervention if needed.

10- IT Items

(Interface Products & Services)

This update includes all servers, central monitoring, and connections to Meditech, ensuring seamless integration and communication between different departments and enhancing overall hospital efficiency.
