The WhidbeyHealth Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 1981 with a gift from the Waterman Medical Foundation to improve patient outcomes and their experience at WhidbeyHealth. Bud and Margaret Waterman started WhidbeyHealth Foundation (then the Whidbey General Hospital Foundation) with a gift to the hospital after Bud passed in 1981. Annual donations from the Waterman Medical Foundation continue under the stewardship of the Waterman family to this day.
For 42 years, the foundation has served as an advocate to improving the health and well-being of the community and as a financial resource to WhidbeyHealth by leveraging philanthropy.
